2020 December Player of the Month Award

Justin Parent of St. Clair College, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, has been named the college NAECAD Player of the Month for December 2020. Samuel Curtis of Guilford High School, Guilford, CT, has been named the high school NAECAD Player of the Month for December 2020 the NAECAD national office announced Monday.

Justin has been an essential part of St. Clair's Call of Duty team that has competed in both Modern Warfare and Cold War this semester. Justin helped lead the team to a Top 5 finish in Tespa's Collegiate Squads tournament along with helping them to a 4-0 record in Tespa's Cold War season. Chris Funston, St. Clair College esports coach and NAECAD member says this about Justin, “Justin has been the team's MVP as he steps up every match, consistently topping leaderboards with frags, defends and objective times. He helps his coach and team captain by providing extra leadership for the team with new setups and specific map and game mode strategies. He is early to scrimmages and warms-up and helps lead VOD reviews while also balancing schoolwork and maintaining great grades.” Justin's positive attitude in-game and out, his commitment, and his ability to lead and improve his teammates has made him a tremendous asset to St. Clair's varsity esports program.

Samuel Curtis is a star game rocket league player for Guilford High School, Guilford, CT. Samuel graduated from high school in December and started at Kings University this spring semester, joining their esports program. He was a top performer in the StayPluggedIn - fall nationals league. Samuel also made it in the top 32 RLCS teams within the previous season. He’s a prime example of a good student and is making a huge positive impact on the rocket league scene.

This coveted award recognizes individuals for a balance of athletic achievement, sportsmanship and citizenship. While elite performance in the game is important, this award is aimed at recognizing the overall impact the individual has made.

Each month, players are nominated by NAECAD members and selected by members of the NAECAD Achievement Recognition Advisory Subcommittee. One Player of the Month will be recognized each month (September – April).

The Player of the Month recipients are eligible for nomination of the Player of the Year award. The individual receiving the Player of the Year award will be recognized in person at the NAECAD National Convention each year. The individuals receiving the Player of the Month award will be recognized at the NAECAD National Convention each year. Student athletes nominated for the Player of the Month award will be eligible for nomination of All-American status. Student athletes receiving the top ten most votes will be recognized at both the high school and the university levels for All-American status. The individuals receiving All-American status will be recognized each year at the NAECAD National Convention.
