National Association of Esports Coaches and Directors Professional Development Platform

The NAECAD Professional Development Platform (NAECAD-PDP) provides quality and accessible professional development for competitive esports coaches and directors. The NAECAD-PDP creates a context of professional development to assist organizations hiring high school, college, and professional level esports coaches and directors and formalizes learning levels to be recognized within the competitive esports ecosystem.

NAECAD members assist in curriculum and assessment development for courses offered in NAECAD–PDP. The curriculum and assessments are created to help esports coaches and directors attain a level of learning and proficiency in the competencies listed below and to ultimately be successful with their student athletes.

NAECAD-PDP courses are delivered on a state-of-the-art mobile platform allowing coaches and directors to learn any place and at any time. NAECAD members have exclusive access to this learning platform. The NAECAD also provides tools and resources for content developers to create quality professional development sessions to be added to the list of topics available for coaches and directors to advance in the professional development platform and to provide current, relevant learning in the evolving world of competitive esports.

NAECAD-PDP
Mobile Platform

NAECAD-PDP courses are delivered on a state-of-the-art mobile platform allowing coaches and directors to learn any place and at any time. NAECAD members have exclusive access to this learning platform.

After joining or renewing a NAECAD membership, members will receive a personalized email to download the NAECAD-PDP mobile app from the Apple App Store (mobile platform currently only available on Apple). Once the app is downloaded, the NAECAD member signs in and chooses courses to take from the NAECAD-PDP.

Learning Levels

Learning Levels are attained by completing segments of ten credits within the NAECAD-PDP. Credits can be earned in three ways:

  • By taking courses on the NAECAD-PDP mobile platform (1 credit per course)
  • By attending NAECAD hosted and sponsored conferences (Multiple credit options)
  • Actual experience as a director or coach of a competitive esports high school, college, or professional program (10 credits for each year of leading a competitive high school, college, or professional esports program)

Learning Levels attained will be captured on a personalized electronic transcript that NAECAD members will be able to use at their discretion. NAECAD members will also receive an electronic certification for each Learning Level attained and receive special recognition at the NAECAD National Convention each year for every five Learning Levels attained.

NAECAD-PDP Coaching and Directing Competencies

Sessions available on the NAECAD-PDP mobile platform are categorized within the NAECAD Core Competencies (listed below). These competencies were created by the NAECAD Advisory Committee to identify the key competencies needed by esports coaches and directors to successfully lead a competitive esports program. NAECAD members are encouraged to take courses from each of the four main Core Competency areas:

NAECAD members assist in curriculum and assessment development for sessions offered in the NAECAD–PDP. The curriculum and assessments are created to help esports coaches and directors attain a level of learning and proficiency in the competencies listed above to be successful with their student athletes.

The NAECAD provides tools and resources for content developers to create quality professional development courses. This new content will be added to the list of topics available for esports coaches and directors to advance in the certification program and to provide current, relevant learning in the evolving world of competitive esports.
